Alpine Inn Bridge Getting A Face-Lift!

Groundbreaking began this past week on the Alpine Inn Bridge Repair Project, thus getting "Phase I" underway.

After serving us faithfully for many a decade, the bridge accessing the Alpine Inn and the legendary Snorting Elk Cellar is in desperate need of some TLC! In the past, access to the Alpine has been, to say the least, just a tad rugged (endearing the facility to many long-time patrons, I'm sure.)

However, with those very patrons in mind, and in keeping with the spirit of upgrades and renovations effecting many areas of our beloved ski resort this season, we are hoping to create a wider, sturdier version of the foot bridge that will also have less extremely sloped approaches.

The first phase of this project, which involves staging the site and excavating materials on the approaches to each side of the bridge, is planned to be finished by the Kick-Off of our Summer Season on June 15th. (THE BRIDGE WILL BE TRAVELABLE ALL SUMMER!) A second phase, in which the actual structure will be renovated, will begin following the close of the Summer Season on September 15th. The plan is to have the repaired bridge ready to carry many hungry, thirsty and tired skiers to our restaurant, bar and hotel by the beginning of the Winter Ski Season 2007.

So in short, be sure to come and visit us sometime throughout the summer and take one last, nostalgic stroll across this local landmark in its original state! Then, come and see our new look this winter! The new version of our bridge is sure to be striking to the eye and utilitarian to our services, however there is something to be said for sentimentality!

Stay tuned to this site for updates on the project and other useful Crystal Hotels information and PHOTOS!

Also, don't miss our Gourmet Wine Dinner on Friday, June 22nd, featuring A New World of Wine. Wine selections will highlight regions relatively new to wine-making. For more information on this event, or to make reservations call (360) 663-2262
Until next week, HAPPY TRAILS!
